Condensed Matter B

Condensed Matter B (CMB | SPA6312)

Year: 3 | Semester: B | Level: 6 | Credits: 15

Course organiser: Dr Andrei Sapelkin | Course deputy: Prof Martin Dove

Aims:
This module aims to equip students with a solid understanding of the scope of condensed matter physics. Students who complete it successfully will be prepared to carry out research in the field. They will be able to explain the electric, electronic, magnetic, and structural behaviour of functional materials, the experimental methods used to investigate their functionality, and the mathematical and computational techniques used to model their properties.

Juno Champion

The school holds Juno Champion status, the highest award of this IoP scheme to recognise and reward departments that can demonstrate they have taken action to address the under-representation of women in university physics and to encourage better practice for both women and men.
