RESITS

You need to get at least 40% overall to pass a BSc module (levels 4-6) and 50% to pass an MSci module (level 7).  If you do not pass the module at the first attempt you are permitted one resit.  From 2015/16 all resits will be held in the summer following the May exam.  In the School of Physics and Astronomy all of our modules are assessed by 'synoptic' resits, this means that they are assessed by 100% exam and your coursework marks no longer count towards the total for the resit.  The exception to this are the lab-based modules and projects which will each have different resit arrangements.

The timetable for summer resits is announced in mid-July.  The resit period usually lasts from late-July until mid-August.

Juno Champion

The school holds Juno Champion status, the highest award of this IoP scheme to recognise and reward departments that can demonstrate they have taken action to address the under-representation of women in university physics and to encourage better practice for both women and men.
