The School of Physics and Astronomy is dedicated to pioneering research in fundamental areas, ranging from the theoretical understanding and experimental testing of theories of high energy physics, through to new explorations of the local structure of materials at the atomic scale, to uncovering the nature and origins of solar systems, galaxies and the universe.

Our teaching is inspired by our research, and our priority is  to deliver professional scientific training that provides our students with the best possible grounding for developing their chosen careers.
